A puzzling Fordite ‘Corvette’ Pendant! Fascinating piece of Fordite, set in twisted Argentium Silver wire. So much depth and swirls. This material is era early 2000’s, from the Corvette factory in Bowling Green, Kentucky.
While not a rock or mineral, Fordite is prized by both lapidary and jewelry artist for its unique and intricate beauty. aka “Detroit Agate” Fordite is a trade name given to hardened enamel paint that has collected in layers in automobile factories. Over many years layers of paint built up, this material was removed, found to be an acceptable and unusual lapidary material, and made into jewelery.
